TERRITORY

Nestled in the fields

Marcellise has always been a green valley, and - even today - can be considered an uncontaminated land. It has traditions that still resist in time; traditions that the town of San Martino itself has lost.
I remember -as a child- that it was known as the valley of cherries: there were so many plants that, while blooming, it seemed that it was snowing. The later development of viticulture made the cherry trees leave place to our enchanting vineyards, which follow the winding course of the hills. Every inhabitant of Marcellise -however- has kept some cherry trees to remember the past time.

Many companies from Verona come here to invest, because the soil is very good for obtaining great wines: the main DOC here is Valpolicella.
That’s why vineyards are present for the most but, in the inaccessible parts of the territory, you can also find many olive groves.
Marcellise maintained a predominantly rural housing distribution. There are numerous villas and courts distributed on the valley floor and on the nearby hills.
Among the most famous, there are Villa Girasole, Villa Orti-Manara, Villa Brolo-Marioni, Villa Ferrari, Villa Burato, Villa dei Malanotte, Villa Camuzzini, Villa Manara, Villa Sogara.
Antoher very important building you can visit is the Parish Church of St. Peter.

Let yourself be enchanted by the wineries in the area

Tastings of products from the Marcellise valley, such as oil, wine and honey- for lovers of traditional flavors.

Discover our territory: San Martino Buon Albergo

San Martino Buon Albergo is about 4 km away from Verona (San Michele Extra district) and about 10 km from the actual city center.

Our town is located in the provincial capital’s east part, in the foothills of Verona.

The north part of our municipality- where there’s the hamlet of Marcellise- is made up of hills, which precede the Lessini Mountains. Not far away there’s the Mezzane valley.

The southern part of our town, instead, completely develops in the lowland and it’s the most populated and urbanized area. It is crossed by the SS11 street, which connects to San Bonifacio and Vicenza. Nearby you can also find the East-Verona exit on the A4 highway Milan-Venice, to which are also connected the East freeway (linking San Martino to Valpantena and Lessinia) and the South one.
